Technique of polishing
Apply sufficient polish on the scuffed portion with your fingers
Layer up polish over the whole shoe by rubbing it in with your fingers
Preparation
First check for mud, dirt and stones. Because if polish is applied over mud or dirt, it eventually dries and falls off.
Simple polishing
Dab the first brush into the first tin. And massage the polish gently into the leather. Once it dries, buff the leather with a 'shining brush'. The sheen can be worked on further by buffing the surface with a pad made of an old rolled up nylon cloth.
Filling and layering
The technique of filling and layering provide a quick, effective way of building up polish. After simple polishing, dab fingers into the second tin of uncontaminated polish. And then rub in a circular motion until the fingers begin to drag and squeak. This occurs due to the heat generated while rubbing the surface. The sheen and shine can be further improved by buffing with a nylon cloth.
